According to The Mirror, Ezgjan Alioski could still end up staying at Leeds United despite the club announcing his departure this week.
The Whites confirmed Alioski’s exit earlier this week, stating that he had ‘sadly’ been released having failed to reach an agreement over a new deal.
The news came as Leeds announced the arrival of Barcelona left back Junior Firpo, snapped up for £13million as a replacement for Alioski.
Signing Firpo and announcing Alioski’s exit all added up; the Macedonian would be leaving for nothing, but Victor Orta quickly found a replacement.
Now though, The Mirror state that Alioski could yet end up staying at Leeds because a contract offer from the Whites is actually still on the table.
Alioski allegedly hasn’t received an acceptable offer from a new club despite talks with Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor, and the offer to stay at Leeds is still available.
The 29-year-old is still a fan favourite at Leeds, and having the depth of Firpo and Alioski in the left back area would be great for Marcelo Bielsa and co.
It still looks like Alioski will be leaving, especially after Leeds said goodbye to him, but you can never say never in football, and there appears to be a chance that there is a U-turn.
