Former Rangers captain Craig Moore thinks the valuation placed on Alfredo Morelos by the Light Blues is “unrealistic” and doesn’t believe his old club are going to get the sort of offer they want for the Colombian as another summer of ‘Morelos to (insert club name here)’ rumours awaits.

Reports in Portugal have claimed a deal to take Morelos to Porto is at various stages of completion with a host of differing fees reported in recent weeks.

The only consistent thing about it all so far has been that Rangers appear to be unwilling to sell at the prices mentioned – but Moore thinks the Gers have got it wrong in that regard.

“I’ve heard mixed things on the Morelos and Porto situation, ranging from Porto not being interested to Morelos not being interested in them,” Moore told Go Radio (via Daily Record).

“So, it just seems a bit of a strange situation. Rangers, for me, would want to keep Morelos now and if they were going to lose him you’ve got to have a deadline, so you know exactly where you stand in regards of moving forward within the season.

“The £15-20 million (valuation), the market globally, it has dropped significantly.

“So, the £15-20m for me, at this moment in time, is unrealistic and Rangers aren’t going to receive an offer of that kind of value.”

Rangers simply can’t allow Morelos to go on the cheap

While Moore wants to point at the drop in the global transfer market, clubs continue to spend ridiculous sums of money on players – Like Aston Villa’s £38million for Emi Buendia – Rangers are entirely within their rights to stick to their guns.

If Porto, or anyone else, isn’t willing to pay what Rangers want, then the Light Blues will be happy to keep El Bufalo around a while longer.

Clubs aren’t going to bend over backwards to help Rangers sign their players so it seems off that Moore thinks Rangers should.
