Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has taken to Instagram after his dreams of representing Brazil at the Olympics were dashed due to a knee injury.
The defender was due to head to Tokyo to represent his country, but a cruel twist of fate has meant that he’ll have to watch them from a distance.
However, luckily for Arsenal, Magalhaes says that his injury isn’t too serious.
This is what every Arsenal fan will have wanted to hear.
Magalhaes’ injury isn’t too serious, and while knee injuries can be nasty, it seems as though this one won’t have him out for a large portion of the season.
Of course, we haven’t gotten an official diagnosis yet, so there’s every chance that he’ll miss a couple of games for the Gunners, but at least it’s not something that will keep him on the sidelines long-term.
A knee injury is always scary as it’s such an important part of the body for a footballer and a torn tendon there can rule a player out for up to a year, but it sounds as though Gabriel isn’t facing that type of problem.
Fingers crossed his recovery goes well and he’s fit to start against Brentford on the opening day of the season for the London club.
