According to Fabrizio Romano, Celtic are in talks with Rubin Kazan over the signing of Carl Starfelt.
What’s the story?
Well, from out of the blue, the respected Italian journalist revealed that Ange Postecoglou’s side are in talks to sign the centre-back.
Starfelt – who can also operate at right-back – is currently discussing personal terms with the Bhoys.
However, he is doing so before Celtic and Rubin Kazan have even agreed on a price.
Romano believes Celtic will be submitting an opening offer soon, but will continue to speak to Starfelt directly about his personal terms.
Goodbye Kristoffer Ajer?

In his tweet, Romano adds that Starfelt – a 3-cap Sweden international – could be a replacement for Kristoffer Ajer.
At one point, it was said that Newcastle were about to make the Norwegian their first signing of the summer.
As of now, Ajer is still a Celtic player, but the talk surrounding his future has been far from reassuring.

Now, it seems as if Postecoglou is safeguarding himself by lining up a replacement, before Ajer has even left Celtic Park.
In 29 appearances last season, Starfelt scored three goals for Rubin Kazan, while also providing one assist.
If Celtic can get this one over the line, it will be a very shrewd move.
