According to ABC, Real Madrid left-back Miguel Gutierrez has an offer on the table from Arsenal, amid interest from West Ham.

What’s the story?

Well, the Spanish news outlet believe the defender has offers from Getafe and 14 other teams in Spain.

In that respect, you could say Arsenal have some competition.

ABC believe Gutierrez is currently considering Arsenal’s offer, and is deciding whether it’s worth waiting for his chance at Real Madrid.

Interestingly, ABC add that Arsenal are actually studying the chances of paying his €40 million (£34.2 million) release clause in full.

Surely, for a 19-year-old with little senior experience, that would be a bizarre decision from Mikel Arteta and Edu.

Now, it will be interesting to see if West Ham respond to this news.

Why? Well, the Hammers are said to have swooped in after Leeds cooled their interest, and instead signed Junior Firpo from Barcelona.

Why would Arsenal want Miguel Gutierrez?

With all due respect to the Spaniard, why would Arsenal want him?

Arteta already has one of the best left-backs around in Kieran Tierney, so Gutierrez surely can’t expect regular first-team football.

It should be noted that Arsenal’s No.3 signed a new long-term contract only recently, so he’s not going anywhere.

Additionally, the Gunners are about to complete the signing of Nuno Tavares, who is expected to deputise for the Scotland international.

ABC write that Gutierrez hasn’t penned a new contract at Real Madrid as he wants to step up and become a first-team regular.

With the aforementioned reasons in mind, it feels unlikely he’ll get his wish at the Emirates Stadium.
