Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with an absurd number of Serie A stars since Fabio Paratici’s arrival, with Sampdoria ace Mikkel Damsgaard one of them.

Damsgaard only joined Samp from Norsdjaelland last summer, but made an instant impact with two goals and four assists in 35 Serie A games.

His profile was already rising, but Damsgaard has now become one of the breakout stars of Euro 2020, shining for Denmark in their run to the semi-finals.

The 21-year-old scored against Russia and recorded an assist against Wales before again impressing in the quarter-finals against the Czech Republic.

Samp won’t want to lose Damsgaard, but interest is mounting; Samp News 24 recently suggested that Tottenham are planning to make a bid for the winger with Paratici now on board.

Branded ‘phenomenal’ by Danish teammate Kasper Schmeichel, Damsgaard has now received a lofty comparison that should excite Tottenham fans.

Nordsjaelland sporting director Jan Laursen has told The Times that he thinks Damsgaard is similar to Kevin De Bruyne in terms of their size and cleverness on the ball.

“He was also small and skinny and he developed in a club where they saw his potential,” said Laursen. “They both are not the strongest and fastest, but they are very clever players,” he added.

Damsgaard will of course need to fill out a little and continue to develop, but if Tottenham can truly land the new De Bruyne, Paratici may make himself a hero to Spurs fans.
