Mundo Deportivo are reporting this morning that Leeds United will announce the signing of Junior Firpo from Barcelona today.
What’s the story?
It is being reported that Junior Firpo has passed a medical at Leeds.
The 24-year-old left-back has been through a photo session as well.
Leeds will make the official announcement today.
Barcelona will get an initial transfer fee of €15 million (£12.84m) for the Spaniard.
Ezgjan Alioski replacement
Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Junior Firpo’s arrival at Leeds is directly related to the departure of Ezgjan Alioski.
Junior Firpo is Alioski’s replacement at left-back in the team.
Leeds announced yesterday that Alioski has left as a free agent after the two parties failed to agree on new terms.
The club’s Director of Football, Victor Orta, described the North Macedonia international as “exceptional” on the club’s official website.

An upgrade?
Junior Firpo struggled to play regularly for Barcelona, but there is no doubt that he is a very good left-back.
If he wasn’t, then Barcelona would not have signed him in the first place.
Alioski was brilliant during his spell at Leeds, but you must remember that he is a winger by trade.
The North Macedonia international was deployed as a left-back by Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa.
Junior Firpo is a ‘proper’ left-back.
