Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared what he’s hearing from Arsenal about Manuel Locatelli amid reported interest.
It’s no secret that the Gunners want the Italian this summer, with Sassuolo’s CEO even claiming that the London club have made an official approach for the midfielder.
However, Romano says that people at Arsenal have denied those claims.
What’s been said?
Romano shares what he knows about Locatelli and Arsenal.
“It’s an interesting situation with Manuel Locatelli because some days ago the CEO of Sassuolo here in Italy said that Arsenal made an official proposal, but from Arsenal’s side they are denying this proposal. I think this is normal because when you know a player is not 100 per cent convinced about a move you’re not going to confirm anything, so it’s a part of the poker game of the transfers,” Romano said.
“But Arsenal have an interest in Locatelli, I can say that 100%, they love the player, so Arsenal are very interested in Locatelli.”

Who’s bluffing?
As Romano says, this is a transfer poker game, and somebody is bluffing.
Arsenal may not want their opening bid out in the open, so they could be denying it in order to play down the rumours and avoid a heap of speculation.
However, Sassuolo’s CEO also has reason to drum up stories about his player as he may be trying to hurry Juventus up in terms of making their own offer amid reports that The Old Lady are also interested.
This looks like it will be an interesting transfer saga to follow throughout the summer.
