Inter Milan are ahead of Rafael Benitez’s Everton in the race for Denzel Dumfries, according to The Express.
What’s the story?
The Express are reporting that Everton are interested in signing Dumfries from PSV in the summer transfer window.
PSV do not expect the 25-year-old right-back to report for pre-seaosn training on July 21.
However, it is Benitez’s former club, Inter, who are leading the race for the Netherlands international.
The Italian champions are reported to be ‘ahead’ of Everton for Dumfries.
The report has added that the Dutchman’s agent, Mino Raiola, is trying to get the defender a big move.
Inter Milan or Everton?
Inter won the Serie A title last season and will play in the Champions League in 2021-22.
The Italian giants will also need to sign a right-back following the departure of Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain.

Now, of course, Everton are a big club, but the Toffees are unlikely to challenge for the Premier League top four next season.
Inter will play in the Champions League next season and will also be aiming to win the Scudetto for the second year in a row.
With Hakimi having left, Dumfries could just take his place in the starting lineup.
Meanwhile, O Jogo (print edition, page 13, July 5, 2021) have reported that Everton have made contact in regard to signing striker Haris Seferovic from Benfica in the summer transfer window.
