KAA Gent want “more” than £13 million for Roman Yaremchuk amid claims linking the striker with Premier League sides Arsenal, Wolves and West Ham United, sporting director Michel Louwagie has told RTBF.

It’s not often a centre-forward emerges from a 4-0 thrashing with his reputation enhanced but the Ukraine international could afford to pat himself on the back and be proud of his efforts following Saturday’s Euro 2020 exit at the hands of England.

While understandably overshadowed by a rejuvenated Harry Kane on the night, Yaremchuk still caused Gareth Southgate’s side headaches at the other end, his intelligent link play and sharp movement making for a nervy end to the first half at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Wolverhampton Wanderers were linked with a move for Yaremchuk before Euro 2020 kicked off.

Arsenal are interested too, while the 25-year-old’s eye-catching performances on the big stage have also caught the eye of a West Ham side still looking to replace Sebastien Haller six months on from the Frenchman’s January switch to Ajax.

Will Arsenal snap up Ukraine’s Euro 2020 star Roman Yaremchuk?

But while Louwagie was unwilling to slap a price tag on Yaremchuk’s head, the Gent director did admit it would take a bid in excess of £13 million to sign a striker who recently held talks with AC Milan.

“€15 million? Even in covid times we hope for more,” Louwagie explains.

“Everything will depend on the market this summer. And on the country where Yaremchuk will go.

“The player will be able to put himself in the shop window. The English market is obviously the most interesting.

“We have already had an agreement for several months with Roman to let him go in case of a good offer. After Euro 2020, we will work together for his transfer.

“If, for example, Ajax were to make him an offer, I don’t think he would be interested. Roman’s desire is to go to a high-level championship.”

In June, Calciomercato suggested Yaremchuk is valued somewhere in the region of £25 million – a fee that won’t put off a West Ham side under pressure to reinforce a squad that will be stretched to the seams by a gruelling European sojourn in 2021/22.

Yaremchuk scored a career-best 23 goals for Gent last season before finding the net twice at Euro 2020.
