Arsenal are trying to plan for next season, and whilst fans want new signings, the Gunners are making a backroom move with a deal for Nicolas Jover.
Sure, big signings like Ben White or James Maddison would make major headlines, but adding the right staff is just as important to team success.
First-team coach Andreas Georgson has decided to leave the club after just a year in North London, according to the London Evening Standard.
Georgson had joined Arsenal from Brentford after earning a reputation as a set-piece specialist, but is now heading back to his native Sweden to join Malmo.
Arsenal have moved quickly to replace him though, with Jover appointed as Georgson’s direct replacement – even with the background of being set-piece specialist too.
Jover was with Manchester City, but his contract expired last week, meaning he is now free to begin work for Arsenal when their pre-season plans start on Wednesday.

Mikel Arteta knows Jover well from his time at Manchester City, and even hailed Arteta as ‘very influential’ and a ‘real leader’, so it’s no shock that he’s happy to reunite with the Spaniard.
Formerly of Montpellier and Brentford, Jover has even coached on the international stage with Croatia, with his set piece work making him a wanted man.
The Frenchman is still in his 30’s but is earning a great reputation, and he could be a fascinating addition when Arsenal return for training.
