Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to the rumours that Aaron Ramsdale wants to stay at Sheffield United.
The Star have reported that the England goalkeeper wants to remain at Bramall Lane and try to help the club earn promotion at the first time of asking.
Despite suffering relegation in back-to-back seasons – for Bournemouth and the Blades – Arsenal have still expressed an interest in the shot-stopper.
The Athletic recently reported that Arsenal are in talks with the 23-year-old, as Mikel Arteta and Edu look to bring in fresh faces in the goalkeeping department.
But it seems as though the Arsenal faithful are happy that one of their intended targets wants to stay at his current club.
Given that the £19 million Englishman (BBC Sport) has suffered back-to-back relegations, his potential signing is off-putting to the Arsenal faithful.
Plus, the Arsenal board don’t exactly have a great track record in the transfer market in recent years, so it’s understandable why supporters will have that negative mindset.
Whether it’s Ramsdale or someone else, it does seem as though Arsenal needs a new face in between their sticks.
Rumours suggest that current number one, Bernd Leno, could be heading for the exit door this summer.
If that’s the case then Arsenal will be left with Alex Runarsson and he proved last season that he isn’t even worthy to be a number two.
Either way, all this Ramsdale talk will probably escalate when Euro 2020 is over because he is currently on national duty.
