Arsenal and Celtic are about to suffer a blow in their reported quest to sign Mat Ryan.
Arsenal and Celtic interest
Both Arsenal and Celtic reportedly want to sign Ryan on a permanent contract this summer.
The 29-year-old Australia international goalkeeper spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal from Brighton and Hove Albion.
The goalkeeper subsequently said that he would love to return to the Gunners for next season and beyond.
Sky Sports reported last month that Arsenal are interested in signing Ryan on a permanent deal this summer.
The same report claimed that Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou wants to bring him to Celtic Park.
Postecoglou worked with Ryan with the Australia national team.
Blow for Arsenal and Celtic
Despite Arsenal and Celtic’s interest, it now appears that Ryan is on his way to Spain.
El Diario Vasco has reported that Real Sociedad are interested in the 29-year-old.
The La Liga club have reportedly won the race for the Australian.

This will come as a big blow to Arsenal follow Martin Odegaard’s decision.
The Norway international has announced on Instagram that he is not coming back to Arsenal after a loan spell from Real Madrid during the second half of last season.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano said on the Don Robbie YouTube channel last month that Arsenal want(ed) to re-sign Odegaard.
As for Celtic, the Scottish giants will now have to search for a new goalkeeper.
