Some Leeds United fans on Twitter were worried that the club had sold Raphinha to Liverpool and not Rafa Mujica to UD Las Palmas.
What’s the story?
Okay, so here’s what happened.
On Friday, Leeds announced on their official Twitter page that Mujica is joining Las Palmas on a permanent deal.
This is the tweet that the Premier League club posted.
Leeds also posted a statement on their official website about the 22-year-old forward’s exit.
Leeds United fans taken aback
Now, some Leeds fans thought that the club were saying that they were selling Raphinha.
As you can see from the tweets below, some thought that ‘Rafa’ referred to Raphinha and not Mujica.
You can understand why really.
While skimming through posts and notifications on social media, we do tend to misread at times.
Moreover, Raphinha is a player who has been in the transfer columns.
The Brazilian winger has been linked with Liverpool, although Leeds are adamant that they will not sell him this summer.
The Mirror reported in March interest from Liverpool and Manchester United in the 24-year-old Brazilian.
However, just days later, Leeds Director of Football Victor Orta dismissed suggestions that the club will sell the winger this summer.
