Speaking on the All Together Now Podcast, Jamie Carragher has claimed that Ben Godfrey could reach the next level under Rafa Benitez.
The Toffees have a new manager and it’s a man Carragher knows well with Benitez coaching Carragher at Liverpool over a six-year period from 2004 to 2010.
Carragher has heralded the work Benitez did with defenders during his time at Anfield, and he expects Benitez to get the best out of one Everton player.
What’s been said?
Carragher tipped Godfrey to reach the next level under Benitez.
“He improved my game an awful lot. I think he’ll be brilliant for the defenders within the club, I think someone like Ben Godfrey. He’ll be delighted with Rafa Benitez coming in because I think he can take his game to the next level, I really do,” Carragher said.

Exciting prospect
The idea of Godfrey getting even better at Everton is a very exciting prospect.
The defender was already one of the Toffees’ most important players last season, and it seems as though he could get even better under Benitez.
The Spaniard has worked wonders with defenders in the past, including Carragher, and if Godfrey gets the same treatment he could soon become one of the Premier League’s best.
