Biz Markie is under medical care

Following online rumours about the rapper, his manager Jenni Izumi confirmed that Biz is alive and under medical care at the moment.

“The news of Biz Markie’s passing is not true,” Izumi wrote. “Biz is still under medical care, surrounded by professionals who are working hard to provide the best health care possible. Biz’s wife and family are touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from his friends, peers and fans alike. At this time, we ask for your continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

This comes after fellow rapper Big Daddy Kane told The Breakfast Club in April that Biz has been recovering from a stroke.

Kane explained at the time: “He’s getting better. He’s in rehabilitation now. He’s getting better and stronger every day. Last time I talked to him on the phone, he got a real light voice, but last time I talked on the phone. He stuck his middle finger up at me, so I think he’s coming along.”

The rapper was in a hospital in 2020

The news about Biz’s condition comes after he was taken to a hospital last year due to a diabetes related illness.

At the time, his representatives told TMZ that Biz was not hospitalised due to Covid-19, but that the trigger for his illness was his type 2 diabetes.

Biz was at a Maryland hospital and his representative told TMZ:

“He is receiving the best care from an amazing team of medical professionals and we remain positive about the outcome.”

In 2014 Biz lost 140 pounds in order to get his diabetes under control.
