Leeds United have reportedly got an advantage in the race to sign Barcelona’s Junior Firpo.
Firpo has been heavily linked with a move to Leeds in recent days and SPORT in Spain reported on Wednesday that Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta had convinced the player to join.
But with a European giant like AC Milan also in the equation, nothing can be taken for granted.
But The Mirror have now claimed that Barca would prefer if the 24-year-old – a £15 million signing by the Camp Nou club two years ago – joined Leeds.
That’s because the report added that the Italian outfit were only trying to sign him on loan but the Whites’ offer – of £12.9 million – suits Barcelona, who want a permanent sale.
Bittersweet
Leeds fans would love Firpo because he’s a Barcelona player and he’ll surely add something to their attack.
But being a left-back, his arrival is unlikely to make Ezgjan Alioski want to stick around.
The Macedonia international is out of contract at Leeds from today and although United have offered him an extension, it seems improbable that he’ll sign it.
Firpo’s arrival would push him down the pecking order and although some fans of the West Yorkshire club Alioski, the Dominican’s signing would probably make him leave.
