Former Premier League champions Liverpool are reportedly willing to sell Shaqiri if he wants to leave.
The Reds expect Lazio to make a move for the Switzerland international in the summer transfer window, according to The Liverpool Echo.
The Merseyside club think that Serie A outfit Lazio will make a move after Switzerland’s involvement at the European Championship.
Xhaqiri is part of the Switzerland squad that have reached the quarter-finals at Euro 2020.
The report has added that although Liverpool are ‘not actively looking to sell Shaqiri’, they will not stand in the way of the 29-year-old if a suitable offer comes in and the winger himself wants to leave.
Xherdan Shaqiri exit inevitable?
Shaqiri – who earns £80,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – has been at Liverpool since 2018.
The winger was signed as a cover, and the former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan man has failed to cement his place in the starting lineup.
The 29-year-old made only five starts in the Premier League last season, and started twice in the league in 2019-20.
Shaqiri may have won the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool, but he will now surely want to play regularly.
That is not going to happen at Liverpool.
