Marvel has quietly altered the post-credits scene of WandaVision but the change didn’t go unnoticed by fans of the series.
Created by Jac Schaeffer, the show follows the lives of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) after the events that took place in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
The series originally launched on Disney+ on Friday, January 15th 2021 and the final episode of season 1 aired in March of this year.
A few months later, Marvel has gone and edited WandaVision’s post-credits scene without any explanation.
WandaVision ending has changed
Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the post-credits scene of WandaVision’s final episode has been altered by Marvel recently.
As seen in a video shared by Phase Zero‘s Twitter account, the ending shows that the trees near Wanda’s cabin have changed their colours, leading to a lot of reactions on social media.
But that’s not the alteration that has led to speculations as many viewers have noticed a translucent figure in the scene. Many believe that the reflection heading down to the cabin is Doctor Strange’s.
Marvel has already confirmed that Olsen will reprise her role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which is not news to us. But a lot of fans have claimed that Marvel might have done the change to connect the series with the upcoming movie.
The speculations haven’t been addressed by producers at the time of writing and the reflection could be a rendering mistake…
What was the original post-credit scene?
The trees in WandaVision’s original ending are a lot greener and there’s no translucent figure heading down to the cabin.
The post-credits scene uploaded by YouTube user Lemonaid TV on March 5th, 2021, clearly shows that the trees were different.
Speaking to VanityFair about the Strange sequel, Olsen teased what’s to come in the movie and said:
“I think it’s scarier than Indiana Jones. Yea, not like [Raimi’s] western [stuff]… Yes, the horror genre feeling of constant fear and thrill and misleads and playing with camera, playing with how the perspective of the depth of field in order to make the audience feel more anxious… It’s more… I think it’s more than like a glossy Indiana Jones movie. Which I love Indiana Jones, but I feel like it has a darker thing going on.”
Fans react on social media
Fans have flocked to several social media platforms, such as Twitter and TikTok, to share their reactions and speculations to WandaVision’s altered ending.
“I think the post-credits scene in WandaVision has been changed because Wanda has been planting trees. Environmental queen,” reacted one person.
“Everyone on TikTok is freaking out about the WandaVision post credit ending being changed when it’s literally just a figure floating down. wouldn’t have noticed it if nobody mentioned it,” said another one.
