When watching movies and shows, we can often feel entirely convinced that characters are falling in love for real. That’s the magic of it all.
This comes from convincing performances and, of course, a good script can never be underestimated.
While this is often a testament to the stars’ acting abilities, it’s not unheard of for cast members to actually develop real feelings for one another while they continue to explore their characters.
Recently, some audiences have grown curious about the talents centre-stage in Sex/Life, the American drama series which premiered on Netflix on Friday, June 25th 2021. It’s inspired by BB Easton’s novel 44 Chapters About 4 Men.
Viewers have helplessly fallen for Billie Connelly and Brad Simon, and fans have been thrilled to learn that the talents portraying them – Sarah Shahi and Adam Devos – are together in real life. So, did they meet on the 2021 series?
Did Sarah Shahi and Adam Devos meet on Sex/Life?
- Yes, Sarah and Adam first met while working on the show in Toronto and true romance blossomed between them as they continued to share the screen.
The 36-year-old American actor has explained that he managed to score the role thanks to Stacey Rukeyser, an executive producer that he has previously worked with on the TV series UnREAL.
Speaking with ScreenRant, 41-year-old American actress Sarah acknowledged that she was immediately taken with her character after reading the script: “There was a lot about Billie, when I initially read her, that I felt like I could relate to. She was dynamite in a box…”
So, the two came aboard and feelings gradually began to surface as they worked on the project. Since, both have revealed that they’re in a relationship and Adam has said during an interview with The Daily Telegraph: ‘What I will say and I am always happy to say, is that I am a lucky man and it is happy days.”
Sarah has said that she feels “it was great casting, I’ll put it that way.” However, she has also acknowledged that she doesn’t want to make too much about their relationship public: “Without sharing too many details because there is a part of my relationship that I protect and that’s for me and him only, I’m very grateful that I met him.”
She added: “He’s hands-down one of the best humans I’ve ever met, and I’m grateful to be on this ride in general – but to be able to share it with him is special as well.”
Over on Instagram, Sarah shed more light on her feelings for him in a touching post back in May:
Follow them on Instagram!
It’s certainly worth following the couple on Instagram as they have both shared selfies and snaps together.
They boast 520k and 180k followers, respectively.
“You’re only as good as your scene partner”
Sarah has offered further thoughts on working with Adam and Mike Vogel (who plays Cooper Connelly) while chatting with US Magazine:
“You’re only as good as your scene partner and they are so phenomenal. They made my job very easy and they’re both easy to look at. So, oftentimes, I would joke with my mom, I’d just say, ‘I’m going into work,’ and she’d be like, ‘That’s not work because you got to work with Mike and Adam. That’s not called work.’”
Indeed, she added: “[As a group,] we instantly had chemistry.”
Sex/Life is now streaming on Netflix.
