Fabrizio Romano has claimed on the Don Robbie YouTube channel that Manchester City are not desperate to sell Riyad Mahrez amid reported interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Arsenal interest
Eurosport reported earlier this week that Arsenal are interested in signing Mahrez in the summer transfer window.
The report claimed that the Gunners have actually enquired about the former Leicester City winger.
Fabrizio Romano’s information
Well-known and well-respected journalist Romano has said that the information that he has been given is that City are not desperate to sell the Algeria international.
City manager Pep Guardiola is open to keeping the 30-year-old, who cost the Premier League champions £60 million in transfer fees in 2018, as reported by Sky Sports.
Romano said on the Don Robbie YouTube channel: “He (Guardiola) is open to keep Mahrez. Let’s see if something arrives for swap deals because in the summer, I think, later in the summer, like August, some swap deals will take place between top clubs, but at the moment, I am told that Manchester City are not desperate to sell him.”

Ambitious from Arsenal?
Arsenal are a massive club and a global brand, and it will not come as a surprise to anyone that the Gunners want Mahrez.
However, under the current circumstances, it still looks a bit ambitious for the Gunners.
The North London club do not challenge for the Premier League title anymore.

In fact, the Gunners are not even regulars in the Champions League.
Mahrez won the Premier League title once at Leicester and twice with City.
The Algerian is now used to winning trophies and playing in the Champions League.
Will Mahrez be willing to move to Arsenal who are not even in the Europa League next season?
