According to the Daily Mail, Everton could appoint Rafa Benítez in a matter of days, with talks set to continue over the weekend.
What’s the story?
Well, the Daily Mail believe Farhad Moshiri has met the Spaniard on a number of occasions over the past fortnight.
Now, the Iranian is set to offer the 61-year-old a contract, which would bring an end to Everton’s painful hunt for Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement.
Benítez hopes to be accompanied at Goodison Park by Paco de Miguel, his long-term companion who would become Everton’s fitness coach.
Should the ex-Liverpool boss arrive at Everton, it would cause major controversy.
Everton supporters have made their feelings towards the Spaniard very clear, after some displayed anti-Benítez banners around Merseyside.
Marcel Brands is said to be worried about what will happen if Everton appoint the unpopular ex-Real Madrid boss.
What would happen to Duncan Ferguson?

The Daily Mail claim that Benítez is set to sit down with Duncan Ferguson and discuss the prospect of working alongside each other.
The Scot was keen to be considered for the managerial vacancy after Ancelotti’s shock return to Real Madrid.
However, it now looks like he’ll remain as a No.2, this time to Benítez who is seemingly days away from being hired by the Toffees.

From our point of view, we can’t wait to see what reception he receives at Goodison Park.
Sadly, things could be toxic before they’ve even begun.
