According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur admire Italy boss Roberto Mancini as they look to finally appoint a new manager.

Tottenham parted ways with Jose Mourinho in April, yet they still haven’t found a replacement more than two months on.

If Tottenham were to go for a manager currently at Euro 2020, many would expect it to be Roberto Martinez – but what if it’s Mancini?

Tottenham ‘admire’ Mancini

This new report states that Tottenham not only admire Rangers boss Steven Gerrard but also Italy’s Mancini.

Mancini won the Premier League title for Manchester City back in 2012, and now has Italy positioned as one of the favourites for Euro 2020.

Italy have won three from three without conceding a goal at Euro 2020, playing a fine brand of possession football whilst being strong at the back – exactly what Tottenham would want.

New director of football Fabio Paratici will be well aware of Mancini’s exploits, and that may explain Tottenham’s sudden interest.

Nuno still looks more likely than Mancini

The Daily Mail claim that Nuno Espirito Santo is Tottenham’s first choice now, with Paratici and Daniel Levy believed to be in agreement about him.

Mancini only recently signed a new long-term deal to remain as Italy boss until 2026, so Tottenham would have to pay huge compensation to land him unless there is a specific get-out clause.

Nuno is out of work and available for free, which could be a factor in Tottenham’s current stance, whilst Mancini may not be free to move for some weeks yet due to his Euro 2020 commitments.
