Rangers coach Michael Beale has described Ibrox striker Alfredo Morelos as being “like a butterfly” at times as he opened up on how his own coaching experience in South America has helped him while working with the Colombian.
Morelos has often been viewed as a controversial figure within Scottish football, often citing ridiculous cliches based on his Colombian background, but Beale confessed he is fascinated with the culture surrounding South American football.
Beale spent time coaching Sao Paulo in Brazil before moving to Ibrox as part of Steven Gerrard’s coaching staff and Gerrard’s trusted right-hand man was full of praise for El Bufalo.
“Alfredo Morelos is like a butterfly at times. As Rangers have become a better team, other teams have sat back. If Alfredo comes short, someone else goes long,” Beale said, speaking to The Coaches’ Voice.
“My time in Brazil was great in learning about South America, which has helped me work with him.
“Some of the players in Brazil need to be a football player, it’s not that they want to be. Social, economic and family reasons.
“The culture’s fascinating. Standing back and understanding the culture, the good and the bad, was great for my development.”
Morelos’ Rangers days could be coming to an end
While Gerrardn and Beale have never hidden their love for Morelos, the Colombian’s days at Rangers seem to be coming to an end.

The Rangers striker’s agent has – once again – been touting El Bufalo to clubs across Europe, leading to reports he’s agreed terms on a move to Porto.
Although Rangers played hardball when it came to selling Morelos last summer, you get the impression the Gers will be much more amenable to finding a solution that suits everyone.
