Rangers and Celtic Colts could end up playing in the SPFL next season with talks expected to be held later today over potential league reconstruction, according to STV.
Both Rangers and Celtic will field a B team in the Lowland League this season as part of a one-year pilot, and the Old Firm youngsters could find themselves in League Two next season.
According to the report, the Championship would be expanded to 12 teams from 2022/23, with the kids from Rangers and Celtic taking the two additional places in the SPFL.
The Lowland and Highland League champions would then be added the following year, with League One being expanded to 12 teams before similar with the 2023/23 Lowland and Highland champions to make all four divisions of the SPFL 12 teams strong.
Both Rangers and Celtic would pay £290,000 each year for five years – a total of just under £3million for clubs – and would only be able to be promoted as high as League One.

This season’s pilot for Rangers and Celtic B will be a massive test for them as they prepare for the season getting started next month.
With the fixture lists out, it will suddenlt be feeling a bit more real for the staff at both clubs after years of pushing for the proposals.
With talks expected over continuing the project, it seems like it is only a matter of time before Rangers and Celtic get their way and field a Colt team in the SPFL.
