Andros Townsend has said on talkSPORT (10:47am, June 25, 2021) that Nuno would be a good managerial appointment for Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Tottenham winger has praised Nuno and has recounted the times when he played against his Wolverhampton Wanderers side in the Premier League.

The Portuguese boss left Wolves at the end of last season.

BBC Sport are reporting that the 47-year-old is the leading candidate now to become the new manager of Tottenham.

Townsend said on talkSPORT (10:47am, June 25, 2021): “I could see Nuno at Tottenham, yeah. From what I have seen at Wolves, I have been fortunate enough to play his Wolves side for the last few years.

“They are a very well-drilled unit, they have got playing good football, obviously his record speaks for itself, so if Tottenham wanted to go down that route, they should not turn their nose up.”

Would Nuno suit Tottenham Hotspur?

Nuno is not exactly the ideal manager for the Tottenham job.

Mauricio Pochettino is.

However, Pochettino is unlikely to leave Paris Saint-Germain now, and Spurs are running out of options.

Nuno is available, and given his track record as a manager, he would not be a bad appointment for Spurs.

It was under the Portuguese that Wolves won promotion to the Premier League and then played in the Europa League.

Nuno also led Valencia to a top-four finish in La Liga.

Some Tottenham fans are against the prospect of Nuno becoming the new manager, but he might just be the best available.

Pre-season training at Tottenham will start soon, and club chairman Daniel Levy needs to make a decision now.
