Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Sam Johnstone from West Bromwich Albion in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.
It has been reported that new Wolves manager Bruno Lage wants Rui Patricio to stay.
However, should the Portugal international goalkeeper leave for AS Roma, then the Wanderers have Johnstone as a potential target.
Perfect Rui Patricio replacement?
West Brom will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League.
The Baggies will not be able to hold onto Johnstone, who is part of the England squad at the ongoing Euro 2020 finals.
The 28-year-old is at the top of his game, has a lot of experience in the Premier League, and is at the right age to make a big move.

Wolves are a big and ambitious club who will be aiming to challenge for the European places in the Premier League table.
The Daily Mail reported in April that West Brom are looking for £18 million for the goalkeeper, described as “outstanding” by Tottenham Hotspur legend Gary Lineker on Twitter in March.
However, Wolves and West Brom are local rivals, and the Baggies may not be willing to sell the 28-year-old to the Wanderers.
