Drake Bell pleads guilty to two charges

Bell, 34, pleaded guilty to felony attempted child endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles during a Zoom hearing on Wednesday, June 23rd.

As reported by NBC affiliate KXAN, the charges refer to an alleged incident which apparently involved Bell sending “inappropriate social media messages” to a 15-year-old girl.

The publication reports that the girl attended one of Bell’s concerts in Cleveland in 2017. She later filed a report at her home police department in Canada.

According to a report by PEOPLE, the judge said during the virtual hearing: “My understanding is there’s been a plea agreement reached where the defendant will plead guilty to count one attempted endangering children, a felony in the fourth degree [and] plead guilty to count two: disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, a misdemeanour the first degree.”

The judge told the actor that he if he goes to prison, his activities could be restricted for up to three years upon his release.

The news comes after Bell initially pleaded not guilty earlier in June but has since agreed to a plea deal.

More about the case

During the Zoom hearing, the judge explained that an attempted child endangerment carries a sentence between six and 18 months in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000. The second charge carries a sentence of six months in jail and/or a fine of up to $1,000.

The sentencing hearing is due to take place on Monday, July 12th, 2021.
