According to Voetbal International, Nordsjaelland winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has arrived in Amsterdam to sign for Ajax amid links to Liverpool.

It’s stated that Sulemana has been wanted at Ajax for a long time, and he will sign a contract with the Dutch giants before the weekend.

Ajax are paying €15million (£12.8million) for Sulemana, winning the race for the Ghanaian wide man in what could be a major coup.

Liverpool’s interest in Sulemana

The Daily Mail reported in May that Liverpool had been scouting Sulemana over in Denmark ahead of potentially making a move.

Manchester United were also keen, but a move to Liverpool did make some sense – as long as Brexit regulations didn’t scupper a move.

Sadio Mane is 29, so finding his long-term successor would be ideal. Sulemana predominantly plays on the left flank, just like Mane, and could have been developed behind the Senegalese star.

At just shy of £13million and possessing huge potential, Sulemana does seem like a Michael Edwards target – but Liverpool are set to miss out to Ajax.

How did Sulemana perform last season?

Sulemana, 19, joined Nordsjaelland from the Right to Dream academy in 2020, and excelled last term with 10 goals and eight assists in 30 games.

With blistering pace and the ability to go past defenders with ease, Sulemana lit up Danish football last season, even earning comparisons to Neymar, and will now look to do the same in the Eredivisie.

Ajax also raided Nordsjaelland last summer for another Ghanaian player in Mohammed Kudus, so a move for Sulemana does make sense – and we’ll now have to see whether Liverpool keep him on the radar for years to come.
