Darren Bent told talkSPORT that Raheem Sterling will be ‘hurt’ that his name is being touted to Tottenham.
It has been well-documented that Harry Kane wants to leave Tottenham – and Manchester City has been a popular destination he could end up at.
But in order for those at the Etihad to lure Kane their way, they have seemingly offered £100 million plus players, including Sterling, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
And ex-Spurs striker, Bent, thinks the £49 million City star (BBC Sport) will be ‘fully aware’ that he has seemingly been offered to those at Tottenham.
“It will be difficult for Sterling,” said Bent. “He has been so good for Manchester City.
“Him seeing that about potentially being offloaded to go to Spurs, after everything he has done for Manchester City, of course, he will be hurt.
“He will be on the phone to his agent asking ‘what is going on here?’ He will be having conversations with Guardiola. All of this will be going on.
“I know people say they don’t listen to outside noise. But when it affects you personally, and in that kind of environment in someone trying to palm you off to someone else, of course, you are going to be aware of it. It’s going to affect you – he will be fully aware of it.”

Tottenham aren’t in the Champions League, so it begs the question as to why Sterling would let the chance to play on the highest stage of domestic football go.
Plus, how would Sterling feel if he joins Spurs, only for his England colleague Kane to head the other way, it doesn’t exactly scream of ambition, does it?
Not forgetting that they are without a manager, they declined last season, the squad is ageing and it needs refreshing all over the pitch.
Never mind someone like Sterling joining Spurs, they’ll do well to persuade Kane to stay given the mess Daniel Levy has put them in.
