Chelsea duo Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount will miss England’s clash with Czech Republic tonight.

Both players have to self-isolate until Monday after coming into contact with Scotland’s Billy Gilmour, who tested positive after Friday’s 0-0 draw at Wembley.

They are deemed to have been ‘close contacts’ of Gilmour, and will miss England’s last 16 clash too.

Czech legend Petr Cech might have reason to rejoice given the decision helps his nation but he took to Instagram to slate it.

Mount and Chilwell’s England and Chelsea teammate Reece James clearly agreed, as he liked the post as well.

Cech made the point which many others will be thinking of in the wake of the news.

How comes Mount and Chilwell need to isolate but none of the Scotland players need to?

The Telegraph claim that none of the Scotland squad were deemed to be ‘close contacts’ in the same way.

The decision does seem baffling and perhaps it’s just the FA being overly cautious to try and avoid an outbreak in the squad.

But Mount and Chilwell tested negative after the game, which leaves the decision open to criticism.

The Telegraph claim that Jack Grealish will take Mount’s place in the side as the number ten.

Chilwell is yet to play a minute of the tournament so far, but the 26-man squad means Gareth Southgate will still have a full bench at his disposal tonight.
