After the magical brilliance of WandaVision and the hard-hitting reality of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel’s latest series, Loki, places time at the centre of attention.
The titular God of Mischief is accosted by the Time Variance Authority for venturing from his destined timeline but is recruited rather than punished.
On his first mission, however, Loki comes face-to-face with an unexpected adversary and it’s an encounter that has left fans yearning for episode 3.
*Spoilers ahead for Loki episode 2*
Loki premiered on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 9th, 2021.
Set following the events of Avengers: Endgame, the new series sees Loki (Tom Hiddleston) star in his very own series as he steps out of his brother, Thor’s, shadow.
After taking the Tesseract in 2012, Loki lands himself in hot water with the Time Variance Authority (TVA) which keeps the Sacred Timeline in check and deals with variants such as Loki who stray from their correct timelines.
However, after Loki is initially antagonistic towards the TVA, Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) manages to persuade the God of Mischief into helping him track down another deadly variant who is wreaking havoc throughout time.
In episode 2, we follow Loki on his first mission for the TVA that ends with a face-to-face encounter with the aforementioned variant.
What makes the meeting even more shocking is the fact that the variant is a female version of Loki who has been planning a cosmic-scale attack on the Sacred Timeline.
