Darren Bent told Euro GameDay Live on talkSPORT that he is ‘all for’ Arsenal signing Ben White this summer.

Last week, it was suggested that Arsenal had a £40 million bid rejected from Brighton for their ball-playing centre-back, as reported by Sky Sports.

It’s obvious that Arsenal need to refresh their squad this summer and it seems as though those in the boardroom aren’t messing about.

And Bent, who used to play for Spurs but is a boyhood Arsenal fan, has backed the idea of White joining the Gunners.

“I am a big Ben White fan,” said Bent. “He can play right of a three, centre of a three and holding midfield. Needs must.

“But I am a big fan of his. I have liked him ever since he was at Leeds on loan. He has shown great maturity. I think they tried to get him back when they got promoted, didn’t they?

“I can understand why Arsenal would go for him. They are still a big club. Regardless of where Arsenal are at, they are still a very big club.

“If you are asking me to be honest, is it better to go to Liverpool or Manchester United? Then, of course, them two clubs are in a better place going forward than Arsenal.

“But for him to go to Arsenal now then I am all for that. And for £40 million, I think he’s worth every penny.”

If Arsenal want any quick deal done with White then they may have to wait until after Euro 2020 concludes.

Whilst White is yet to taste any action at the Euros, he is on duty with England, who take on the Czech Republic today in their final group game after qualifying for the knockout stages with a game to spare.

But it does seem as though Brighton are going to make Arsenal’s life tough if they are to sign White because they are seemingly looking for more than £45 million for his talents.

And no one can blame them given the performances he has produced during these past 12 months that have also seen him become an England international.
