Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Italy’s Euro 2020 star Leonardo Spinazzola during the summer transfer window, former Serie A ace Simone Altobelli told Centro Suono Sport.
Admiring the swashbuckling left-back is one thing, signing him is another challenge entirely.
You wouldn’t think that Spinazzola would be short of offers following his stellar showing for Italy on the international stage and, if the likes of Real Madrid come calling, why would a 28-year-old entering his prime choose to join a Tottenham side who would make a box of frogs look organised?
Directionless, aimless and still managerless, Spurs are not exactly in a position of strength heading into the final two months of the transfer window.

Altobelli, who played in Italy’s top flight with Lecce, believes that Spurs and Real Madrid are interested in Spinazzola, although it is not certain whether these claims are just speculation or the result of some juicy insider knowledge.
“For me he’s a top player, but I’ve been saying that since he was at Juventus,” Altobelli said of a man who swapped Turin for Rome in a £25 million deal two years ago, via Siamo la Roma.
“It is scary because he manages to beat the man in the last 30 meters. I hope Roma don’t give him to Real Madrid. I know that the Spaniards and Tottenham want the player.
“I think at the moment he is in top form and feels the confidence of both Roma and (Italy coach Roberto) Mancini.”
There is another reason why Tottenham might struggle to tie up a deal for Spinazzola between now and August 31.
