Kristof Terreur has told The Football Terrace that rumoured Arsenal target, Albert Sambi Lokonga, is seen as the ‘young Yaya Toure’.
The Belgian journalist shared that Lokonga’s teammates have told him that the seemingly wanted Arsenal man is someone who adapts ‘quite easily’ to the tempo they set in training.
It seems as though Arsenal are closing in on the signature of the forward-thinking midfielder during these coming days.
With Granit Xhaka seemingly heading for the Arsenal exit door, the club needs a replacement and, most importantly, need to refresh their midfield after an abject 2020/21 campaign.
Nonetheless, this is the inside information, Terreur, shared on Lokonga ahead of a possible move to the Emirates.
“He’s one of those players where it’s difficult to predict how much progress he can make,” said Terreur. “He’s really good. He has a good technique. He has good progressive passing. He can carry the ball.
“Sometimes people tell me, he reminds me of the young Yaya Toure in Belgium because nobody expected he would make such a big career.
“I have been told by players who have played with him and trained with him in the national team that he adapted quite easily to the tempo that they want to play.
“He’s one of those players that adapt to the level of the team. And blends in quite well. He’s still raw in defence and needs work. He needs to take more risks. Physically, he needs to grow. It would one that needs time and patient. He’s rated highly by the people who work with him.”

This would be an encouraging start for Arsenal if they can get Lokonga’s signature over the line during these coming days.
Arsenal need to start off the summer transfer window in a positive fashion, else the frustrated supporters will become even more annoyed with those running the club.
Plus, with the Gunners setting up for life without Europe next season then it will be interesting to see the quality of player they will be able to pull.
