Speaking on the Sky Sports Football YouTube channel, Gareth Bale has been waxing-lyrical about Tanguy Ndombele and his performances in Tottenham training.
The Welshman of course spent last season on loan at Spurs, and he got to have a first-hand look at some of Tottenham’s talented stars.
Bale says that Ndombele surprised him in training.
What’s been said?
The Welshman had nothing but good things to say about Ndombele, claiming that some of the things he does on the ball remind him of Brazilian legend Ronaldinho.
“I’d probably have to say Ndombele this season, I hadn’t seen too much of him the season before and he had an adaption period coming over to England, it’s a big jump, but seeing what he does in training and on the pitch here I was very surprised. Yeah, the amount of ability he has is frightening, the stuff he does with the ball, kind of reminds me of the stuff Ronaldinho used to do with the ball.”

Ronaldinho-esque
This is massive praise from Bale.
Ronaldinho is one of the greatest footballers of all time, so to be compared to him, you have to be a special footballer.
Ndombele is a technically gifted player, there’s no doubt about that, but he’s not quite at Ronaldinho’s level, it has to be said.
Perhaps he’s much better in training than he is on the pitch, but if Bale thinks he’s similar to Ronaldinho then he must be a supremely talented footballer.
