Roy Keane has said on ITV (9:59pm, June 18, 2021) that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane did not play well for England against Scotland.
The former Manchester United midfielder believes that Spurs striker Kane looked leggy and did not look up to speed at Wembley Stadium in London this evening.
England played out a goalless draw with Scotland in their second Euro 2020 game.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has also given his take on the performance of Kane his evening.
What’s been said?
Keane said about Kane on ITV (9:59pm, June 18, 2021): “He does look leggy. He doesn’t look up to speed, he is on his heels all the time, and if England really want to compete in this competition, you need your star man to perform.”
The former Republic of Ireland international added: “Before the competition the talk was all about he might be leaving Spurs. Maybe he has been distracted by that, that can be an energy sap.”
How did Harry Kane play tonight?
Kane did not play well against Croatia in England’s opening game, and the striker struggled yet again tonight.
England could not create enough chances for the 27-year-old.
But, Kane himself did not play well in attack and simply did not look very threatening.
The Scotland defenders were not particularly in danger from the Spurs star.

Kane took two shots but they were not on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 63.6%, took 19 touches, and attempted one dribble.
Much will be made about the striker after tonight’s performance and whether or not England head coach Gareth Southgate needs to drop him.
One should not forget just how good Kane is, and what a goal machine he is.
The Tottenham striker has had just two disappointing games.
The third one could see him score a hat-trick.
You just never know.
