Robert Earnshaw has raved about reported Leeds United target Eljif Elmas on ITV Sport.
The Athletic claim that Leeds are interested in signing the Napoli playmaker, and Whites fans had a chance to get a closer look at the Marcelo Bielsa target yesterday.
Elmas featured for North Macedonia, as they were beaten 2-1 by Ukraine at Euro 2020.
Despite the defeat, Elmas still showed flashes of quality during the contest.
And Leeds fans will be heartened by Earnshaw’s comments, if they do come to sign him.
“He has this magic in him. He has the ability to create something out of nothing,” the pundit enthused.
“Great movement, intelligent, he understands spacing and time and he can finish.
“He’s an interesting player because he’s still young, but when you’ve got Pandev next to you it’s an education.
“He’s the next big star and he’s going to take over from Pandev.”
A magic signing?
If Leeds were to sign Elmas they certainly wouldn’t be buying the finished product – he has largely been used as an impact substitute for Napoli over the past campaign.
However, the potential that he does possess is clear and has been evident at Euro 2020.
North Macedonia may have struggled in their group games, but when they have got the ball forward Elmas has looked a constant threat.
He also knows Gjanni Alioski through their time together at international level, which could give Leeds an advtange in the race to land the 21-year-old, who is valued at around £14.5 million (Athletic).
