Arguably one of the most exciting elements of diving into a new offering from the MCU is seeing which new talents the studio has hired and ushered into the fold.

With every new title, the cinematic universe family grows and Loki has already brought in the likes of Owen Wilson, much to the glee of audiences.

However, another terrific element is how many talented performers are introduced to viewers courtesy of the MCU. In the case of Michael Waldron’s six-episode series, we can expect many new and uncertain faces to become familiar.

So far, it has been an absolute pleasure to embark upon this rollercoaster ride with Tom Hiddleston’s titular trickster and episode 2 dropped some serious bombshells. The mythology of this wonderful world continues to expand and some are curious about a certain new addition. Indeed, the time has come to highlight Kate Berlant…

Kate Berlant arrives in Loki

The 33-year-old American stand-up comedian played Ren Faire Woman in episode 2, fittingly titled ‘The Variant’.

She has come to be closely associated with a surrealist and absurdist approach to her material, appearing on The Tonight Show, The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, and more across her career so far.

Some have briefly mistaken Kate Berlant for Kathryn Hahn in Loki, suspecting that she may have been reprising her WandaVision role (Agnes / Agatha). However, this isn’t the case and you may actually recognise Kate from a number of previous roles.

She has featured in such recent movies as Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (Bruin Box Office Girl), Boots Riley’s Sorry to Bother You (Diana DeBauchery), and After Class (Jackie Cohn).

On the other hand, she has appeared in TV episodes of a wealth of shows too. These include Search Party (Nia / Editor), Indebted (Maggie), BoJack Horseman (Stage Manager), The Good Place (Esmerelda), Those Who Can’t (Zanda / Kate McGill), Human Kind Of (Cory), and more.
