Former Rangers midfielder Rino Gattuso has been involved in a hectic few hours after leaving Fiorentina after just over three weeks in charge and now looking likely to be appointed as Tottenham’s new boss – and Rangers were loving the chaos in the combative Italian’s wake.
After talks with Paulo Fonseca broke down, Tottenham have reportedly turned their attention to Gattuso, as they look to finally replace Jose Mourinho.
Spurs’ new managing director of football Fabio Paratici is, according to Sky Sports, a huge fan of Gattuso views the former Milan and Napoli boss as a more “appealing” candidate than Fonseca.
The London side seem to be trying to give Celtic a run for their money in the shambolic manager search stakes though with talks breaking down with Fonseca – as well as Mauricio Pochettino before him – as they turn to their third ‘first choice.’
With everything happening at breakneck speed today, Rangers fans were only just catching up with the news Gattuso was to leave Fiorentina before reports emerged he was now the main contender for the Spurs job.
That left Gers fans a bit all over the place, with many poking fun at his brief spell in Florence, some wondering how he manages to keep falling up the way and one or two others simply looking forward to the madness that’s sure to follow him to North London if he does take the Spurs job.
