On June 15, DDG uploaded a video titled “I retire.” In it, the singer confined he had quit YouTube.

This news comes days after he had won against Nate Wyatt in YouTube vs TikTok fight. The fight had been one of the biggest events on social media. In the end, YouTube content creators had come out as winners.

Even though DDG managed to score a win, fans have been upset to find out that they will no longer be seeing his content on YouTube.

Why did DDG quit YouTube?

In his video, DDG revealed that it would be the last time he would be addressing his fans on the channel. Speaking about the reason, DDG explained he wanted to focus on his music career.

He explained: “I feel like I gave so much to this YouTube. I have been doing this for six years. It was all my life. I want some type of mystery to my life. You know what I meant. You got to know me for six years We got to know each other. You know my family at this point. You know where I am from, what college I went to. Everything is documented. That’s the good part of you knowing me.”

He continued: “But for the new people who discover me, I only want them to know my music. I want to be more closed off. I want to be more mysterious. I want to focus strictly on being an artist.”

YouTuber deletes videos from all channels

After posting the final video, DDG revealed he had deleted all the contents from his YouTube channel. If you check out his PontiacMadeDDG VLOGS, you would notice that the only video he has is the retirement video.

DDG had 2.51 million followers on the channel. The YouTuber made it clear that he only wanted people to know him for his music. Soon after he uploaded the video, fans started the hashtag “DDG Quits.”

Some seemed upset that the singer decided to delete his old videos. On the other hand, there were many who supported him as he decided to start his new journey.

YouTube vs TikTok fight explored

DDG had hinted he would be leaving YouTube after he won the fight against Nate. He further addressed his fight in the video.

He said: “This boxing thing was like, okay, let me go ahead and do one big thing before I decide to make this leap and stop doing it. I went in there and got the win. I did not get the knockout, but I went and got the win. Shut the internet down. I put my whole rap career on the line. It was a gamble.”

He continued: “This is a good way to end it off and for people to remember me.” DDG further added that he would be deleting the retirement video in a few days as well.
