Reports linking Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin with a move to La Liga outfit Real Betis are no surprise to Adrian, with the Liverpool goalkeeper pouring fuel on the fire in conversation with Marca.
After ten years and nearly 200 Premier League appearances, has the Catalan-turned-cockney played his final game in Arsenal colours?
Well, it certainly looks like it.
As Sport said back in April, Bellerin has been told in no uncertain terms that, if he wants to leave his North London home during the summer transfer window, absolutely nobody will be standing in his way.
The long-serving Spaniard had fallen behind Calum Chambers in Mikel Arteta’s pecking order during the final few weeks of last season.
Has Hector Bellerin played his last game for Arsenal?
The former Barcelona youngster could be offered the chance to make his childhood dream a reality too, with Adrian insisting that a move to Real Betis cannot be ruled out for a man who bleeds green and white.
“I know Hector. I know for a fact that he has very close family members who are Betis (supporters),” said the veteran shot-stopper, who plied his trade for Los Verdiblancos before moving to West Ham in 2013.
“And why not end up at Betis?”
There are still a lot of hurdles to clear, a lot of hoops to jump through, if Bellerin is to make his dream a reality.
His £100,000-a-week wages are far too high for a club who have been hit hard by the COVID pandemic, while a £22 million price-tag is also proving to be a problem.
Then again, with Arsenal showing an interest in Betis’s tough-tackling midfield general Guido Rodriguez, maybe both clubs could some to some sort of an arrangement.
A summer swap deal, perhaps?
