In the troubled times we’re living through, a fun-filled Pixar film is just the ticket to put a smile on our faces.
However, thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, movies have been affected like never before with films either moving online or having their release dates delayed.
With the release of Luca now fast approaching, fans have been asking where they’ll be able to watch the joyous film.
Luca: Release date and plot
Luca arrives on our screens on June 18th, 2021.
Set in a stunning seaside town on the Italian Riveria, Disney-Pixar’s latest effort tells the story of Luca, a young boy who is about to experience the most unforgettable of summers.
Luca and his newfound best friend spend their days eating gelato, pasta and enjoying endless scooter rides but the pair are hiding a deeply-held secret.
They are, in fact, sea monsters from another world and if the truth is discovered, it could have potentially deadly consequences.
Where to watch Luca
- Luca will be available to watch exclusively on Disney+ in countries where is it available.
Originally, Luca was supposed to have a traditional theatrical release but thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was announced at Disney’s Investors Day in December that the film was moved to an online-only release on June 18th.
Unlike recent films including Mulan, Raya and the Last Dragon and Cruella, Luca will not be locked behind the Premier Access paywall and will be available to all Disney+ subscribers at no extra cost.
Is Luca available elsewhere?
Luca will be released in cinemas in countries where Disney+ is not available.
On top of that, Luca will also be getting a limited release at the Disney-owned El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Blvd in Los Angeles.
However, fans hoping to stream Luca will only be able to do so via Disney+ as the film will not be available on the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or HBO Max as so many films have been in the past year.
