Jose Mourinho has raved about reported Liverpool target Jude Bellingham in The Times and has compared him to Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.
Mourinho has outlined the attributes of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Bellingham, who Liverpool are reportedly trying to sign this summer.
The former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager has also compared the 17-year-old to Lampard.
Mourinho worked with the former England international midfielder at Chelsea.
Eurosport reported in April that that Liverpool are among the clubs who are monitoring the 17-year-old midfielder and want to sign him this summer.
Mourinho told The Times: “It means leaving out one of my favourite players in Bellingham, even though I love everything about him.
“It’s very dangerous when you compare a young player with the top of the tops but he has something of Frank Lampard about him. If Lampard shoots ten times, he scores nine goals.
“He always hit the target. But this kid is also capable of scoring goals, he defends with the aggression of a midfield player and also has the potential and creativity to be offensive. I like him. The way he plays, I can’t believe he is only 17.”
Perfect Georginio Wijnaldum replacement?
Georginio Wijnaldum has left Liverpool and joined Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp needs to replace the Netherlands international midfielder in the team.
Bellingham is a good candidate.
Yes, the England international is only 17, but he is already playing at a top level.
The former Birmingham City man did well for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and the Champions League this past season.
Bellingham is a very dynamic box-to-box midfielder who can attack as well as defend.
There is speculation that Dortmund are planning to hand the teenager a new deal.
Anything is possible in the summer transfer window, and it would not be a bad idea for Liverpool to make a bid for Bellingham this summer.
