Rangers defender Borna Barišić has been surprisingly left out of Croatia’s starting XI for their opening Euro 2020 clash with England at Wembley this afternoon – and Rangers fans think that’s doomed the 2018 World Cup finalists to defeat.

Barišić has been axed for RB Leipzig wonderkid Joško Gvardiol in Zlatko Dalić’s starting XI after the defender impressed hin his debut against Belgium before the tournament kicked off.

Barišić missed the final weeks of the season for Steven Gerrard’s side after picking up an injury but he returned to action in the pre-tournament friendlies.

Gvardiol replaced Barišić at the break of the 1-0 defeat by Belgium and it seems the RB Leipzig ace has done enough to impress.

The defender joined Leipzig last summer in a €16million move from Dinamo Zagreb last summer before immediately being loaned straight back.

After helping them to a domestic double, he was named in the squad for Euro 2020 and now looks to cement his place ahead of Barišić for the rest of the tournament.

Rangers fans on Twitter were disappointed to see the Ibrox favourite missing out on a place in the starting XI – with many thinking the Croatians will lose as a result.

Here are some of the comments from Rangers fans on Twitter as Barišić has to watch Croatia’s Euro 2020 opener from the stand:
