Speculation is rife that Liverpool could sign Florian Neuhaus this summer.
The Mirror reported on Saturday that Liverpool have made contact with Borussia Monchengladbach about signing the £34 million midfielder.
And last month, Bild journalist Christian Falk revealed that the player had his heart set on a move to Anfield.
If the Reds are genuinely interested then this one certainly has legs – and, more interestingly, the himself seems keen to leave.
Only last week Neuhaus revealed that he was committed to the Bundesliga club, claims he feels ‘at home‘ with his current side, but he’s singing a different tune now.
He told Sport1: “I am a person who likes to dare something. I could very well imagine going abroad. I don’t necessarily have to go to Bayern Munich. But I don’t necessarily have to leave either, because I’m currently feeling very much at home at Borussia Monchengladbach.
“I have big goals – and something was missing. What exactly? A title. I want to win titles in my career, that drives me. A year with a title win, that would really be a dream year.”
Do Liverpool need him?
Well Jurgen Klopp certainly needs a player like Neuhaus, yes.
Gini Wijnaldum has left the Reds on a free transfer to join Paris Saint-Germain.
And with Jordan Henderson the wrong side of 30 and Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain having dreadful injury records, it would be a huge mistake if Liverpool didn’t replace Wijnaldum.
