According to Gazzetta dello Sport (print version via Tutto Mercato Web), Crystal Palace have made an offer for Radu Drăgușin.
What’s the story?
Well, the 19-year-old has only recently signed a new contract with Juventus, which seemed to end any speculation about him leaving Turin.
However, that doesn’t appear to have put Crystal Palace off.
The exact sum offered by the Eagles is not disclosed by the Italian news outlet.
However, it doesn’t sound like a move will happen if another player leaves.
Within the report, it is said that Drăgușin wouldn’t mind staying at Juventus if Merih Demiral is sold.
If the Turk leaves Turin, then Drăgușin would move up in the pecking order.
However, on that note, you could argue Crystal Palace have a chance at this deal if Demiral stays at Juventus.
Drăgușin is exactly what Crystal Palace need
Quite simply, the south Londoners have to sign young players this summer.
Steve Parish has to try to lower the average age of Crystal Palace’s squad, which is currently among the oldest in the Premier League.
Specifically, the centre-back department needs refreshing.
Mamadou Sakho has been released, while Scott Dann has too.
Those that remain, such as Gary Cahill, James Tomkins, Cheikhou Kouyate and Martin Kelly, are quite old, and also pretty injury prone.
In Drăgușin, Crystal Palace have identified a great prospect, who has plenty of experience playing at a very high level.
Even the iconic Andrea Pirlo rates him, so that’s good enough for us!
Speaking about Drăgușin in a press conference, Pirlo said: “He’s physically very strong. He’s very young and must develop on a technical level, but he will have time to do it, training every day with great champions.”
If the Eagles can get this one over the line, it would be a great signing.
