Liverpool could reportedly swap Marko Grujic for Fabio Vieira this summer.
With Liverpool wanting Vieira and Porto wanting Grujic, CM Journal reported on Thursday that both parties could simply execute an old-fashioned trade.
And if the rumour is true, Michael Edwards and the English side are getting a much better deal.
Simply put, the Reds have absolutely no use for Grujic.
We’re talking about a player who has managed eight Premier League appearances in the five-and-a-half years since becoming Jurgen Klopp’s first signing at Anfield.
Having spent the past three seasons on loan with Porto and Hertha Berlin, the writing is very much on the all for the Serbia international.
Liverpool would be happy enough to get rid of him and make room in the squad, but getting a player in return is even better – and especially a player Vieira.
The Portuguese midfielder scooped the Player of the Tournament prize at the U21 European Championships this summer, illustrating his talent.
Thiago Alcantara and Andrea Pirlo are former winners of the same award.
And if Liverpool could effectively get him without spending a penny, swapping for somebody who isn’t even a squad player under Klopp, then it has to go down as another blinder by Edwards.
