Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway

A three-part anime film adaptation of Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway was announced in April 2018, with the official reveal being made at the 40th Gundam press conference in November of the same year.

The movies are set 12 years after the Second Neo Zeon War and tells the story of Hathaway Noa, son of Bright Noah, who leads a terrorist organisation called Mafty.

Noa, who now goes by the name Mufti Nabiyy Erin, builds a new prototype model Gundam but in response, begins another conflict with the Circle Unit of Earth’s Federation Space Forces.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway Part 1 release date

  • The first Mobile Sui Gundam: Hathaway film is set to premiere in theatres on June 11th, with Netflix confirming that the movie will release on July 1st, 2021.

The three-part Hathaway movie was formally announced in November 2018, with the premiere set for July 2020. However, the film was delayed multiple times due to the coronavirus pandemic, with a final debut scheduled for June 11th.

Creator of the Gundam series Yoshiyuki Tomino said that he was “so happy” that the novels he wrote 30 years ago are finally being adapted for the big screen.

“The real world hasn’t progressed, and may even have regressed. Because of all the Gundam fans who gave this story the chance to reemerge, its themes can pierce through society today.”  – Yoshiyuki Tomino, via Anime News Network.

Netflix acquired the broadcasting rights for the first film and recently confirmed as part of their Geek Week that the movie would release on July 1st.
