Lupin on Netflix

Lupin premiered on Netflix on January 8th, 2021 with part 2 following on June 11th.

The French series is based on the early 20th century novels of Maurice LeBlanc, who created fictional thief and master of disguise Arsène Lupin.

Lupin follows Assane Diop (Omar Sy), whose life was turned upside down when his father died after being accused of a crime he didn’t commit.

Twenty-five years later, we see Assane drawing inspiration from Arsène Lupin – otherwise known as the Gentleman Burglar – to avenge his father.

Will there be a season 3 of Lupin?

  • Yes, the hit mystery series will return for a third instalment, though Netflix is yet to announce its release date.

After Lupin season 2 was announced on Netflix in May, 2021, series star Omar Sy confirmed the drama’s fate beyond the show’s second installment.

When a French journalist found a website with a URL of the same name as Omar Sy’s character, Assane Diop, Sy officially confirmed that Lupin season 3 would be very much happening.

The URL currently features an animated display that reads: “Assane is always one step ahead. Lupin will return for a part three.”

Netflix is yet to announce the release date for Lupin season 3, but based on the gap between part 1 and part 2 only being about six months, we could see the new episodes soon.

Lupin: Plot and Cast [spoilers]

  • Netflix is yet to confirm Lupin season 3 cast and plot.

Netflix hasn’t confirmed the Lupin season 3 cast list yet – that will likely come closer to the release date.

However, we can expect to continue seeing Omar Sy as the talented mastermind.

In Lupin season 2, Assane is desperately looking for his teenage son Raoul (Etan Simon) who we know has been abducted by the Pelligrini family.

He is also being hunted by detective Guedira (Guerrab) who wants to capture Assane but also respects his brilliance.

Even though Netflix hasn’t shared the synopsis for the third season just yet, we can expect to see heists, twists, turns, and general chaos.

That’s Lupin after all!

Lupin part 2 is available on Netflix from June 11th, 2021.
